350 Pathway - 25 & 50 hour modules

Upon graduating from our 200-hour teacher training (or a 200-hour training with another school), we offer an accessible schedule of 25 and 50-hour modules to continue your training, deepen your knowledge and grow your skills. Ongoing study is essential to your development as a teacher, and our commitment is to equip you with everything you need to keep evolving in your teaching.

We’ve identified key areas that you will have likely touched upon in your 200-hour training, that are ripe for exploring with more depth and breadth. Around these key areas, we’ve created individual 25 and 50-hour modules that offer a technical, practical and inspirational framework so that you may address your students’ needs in class, feel confident in the knowledge you are offering, live in the wisdom of yoga, and stay on top of your own personal growth and self-care.

Each of these modules is completely self-contained (ie there are no prerequisites other than a 200-hour training), as well as being completely integrated with all our other modules which, when combined, serve as a rich tapestry of practical tools, yogic wisdom and heartfelt inspiration. You may take the modules in any order, and over the period of 12, 18 or 24 months, or longer if you wish!

Each module is offered over three or five full days, and each one is held once per year. Please check the website for dates and details!

Alignment, Anatomy & Assisting - 50 hours

Join Nicole Walsh for this in depth journey into the anatomical and energetic intelligence in your body, refine your practice, and discover a deeper understanding of the human body through yoga asana.

A good foundation in Anatomy is essential for yoga teachers, and helpful for those dedicated yogis who want to have a deeper connection to their own practice.

Our focus is on keeping people safe, preventing injury and dealing with common anatomical and physiological issues that can often be present during yoga practice.  We'll tune in to the subtle nuances of human biomechanics through the structural alignment of the musculoskeletal system, and the effect of yoga practice on the body in relation to stability, strength and mobility.

Building on knowledge of anatomical function, Nicole will guide you through an understanding of the energetic pathways of the body based on the Five Vayus (movements of energy). From this knowledge, you'll discover primary alignment actions in yoga asana through observation, personal practice and assisting.

Hands-on assisting is a topic of much discussion in recent years, and where possible, a skilful hands-on assist can be an exceptional teaching tool, and may be transformational and empowering to receive if the approach is sincere, sensitive and respectful of each student's personal needs.

We live in a world now where the ability to teach alignment with 'hands-off' assisting techniques is essential. This training has evolved to explore ways to enhance your teaching with skilful verbal cues, embodied suggestion and demonstration of asana refinement and energetics.

Through this five-day teacher training, you'll build a deeper awareness of yoga asana within your own body, and enjoy transferring this knowledge through deep discussion and a delicious exchange of hands-on AND hands-off assists with your fellow trainees.

Expand your repertoire and 'yogic toolkit', while gaining confidence whether you are practicing or teaching!

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

  • How to see people’s bodies rather than just poses - techniques of observation so you know how to be effective when guiding your students in asana practice.
  • Structural alignment of the body, with an understanding of the many types of variations in bone and joint structure, and how these affect the practice of asana.
  • The energetics of the moving body - understand the prana vayus, the movements of energy through the body; and how the key actions of any asana can be enhanced by tuning in to these energy pathways.
  • Understand both the physical and energetic pathways to movement, so that your teaching becomes grounded in both science and philosophy.
  • How to build healthy relationships with your students, cultivating trust and connection.
  • Learn how to support, stabilise, awaken and deepen your students’ practice through the different types of hands-on and hands-off assisting
  • How to offer subtle verbal refinements to individuals and to the whole class, for a more embodied asana experience
  • The principles of assisting and adjusting - how to be clear about your intention, and adjust with clarity and purpose
  • How to know who, when and how to hands-on assist, and when to ask for permission, so that any hands-on assists become an empowering and potent teaching tool
  • The magic of touch - learn about different types of touch, how and when to use them

The Art of Sequencing - 50 hours

Being a modern yoga teacher requires many skills and talents ranging from the practical to the intangible.  Empowered teaching comes from the skilful integration of your own embodied wisdom with that of timeless yoga knowledge.  This course translates this knowledge into a practical toolkit of yoga class sequencing and teaching skills that will inspire you to embody confidence as you take your teaching to the next level.

Sequencing is both an art and a science, and through this course you’ll learn a variety of sequencing techniques that prepare your students' bodies safely and intelligently as they progress from simple to complex asana. Putting together class sequences can be a fun way to express your creativity as a yoga teacher, and this training will help you become more intentional and purposeful with your sequencing, so that your students will thrive in your classes!

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

  • Learn sequencing techniques to take your students on an empowered journey through their asana practice.
  • Create your very own sequences, using the application of 'Vinyasa Krama' (intelligent sequencing), that are safe, inspiring and empowering for all types of students.
  • Discover the skills to teach a 'multi-level' yoga class, taking into consideration where your students are at, and what their needs and aspirations are.
  • Arm yourself with 'sequencing strategies' to respond in the moment to the varying needs of your students, whether beginner, injured, pregnant or other.
  • Acquire the skills to modify and adapt your sequences 'on the fly', so that all of your students feel cared for in your classes.
  • Learn how to sequence towards a peak pose with integrity, creating an intelligent pathway for students to progress in their practice.
  • Learn how to easily remember your sequences so you don't get lost mid-flow!
  • Discover how to repurpose class sequences so that you don't have to keep 'reinventing the wheel'. Know how much of your sequences you can repeat, and how much new material you need to introduce to keep it fresh and inspiring for your students (and for yourself!)
  • Cultivate a teaching 'program' or curriculum for your students, so that there's consistency, purpose and clarity across all of your classes, and so that you take your students on an inspiring journey.
  • Learn how to sequence across a week, a month or longer so that you can spend less time working on the actual sequences, and devote more time to cultivating your teaching skills.
  • Receive 20 tried and tested sequences that you can adapt and vary according to your students’ individual and collective needs, and different levels of ability.
  • Follow our unique blue-print and class creation process, that will help you put together inspiring classes that are safe, effective and transformational.
  • Discover practical and relevant ways to marry yogic wisdom with your asana sequences, creating theming ideas that integrate seamlessly with your class sequences
  • Take your teaching to new levels of empowerment and confidence through this practical exploration!

Meditation Teacher Training - 50 hours

THE SUBTLE ARTS OF YOGA MEDITATION

Meditation and the art of Mudra, Pranayama and Mantra cultivates a quality of attention, curiosity and wonder that can transform a yoga practice and your life.

Meditation is a natural, instinctive process that all human beings can access with skillful guidance.  Our bodies are designed to enter deeply restful states so that healing and rejuvenation can happen in the most natural way possible. However, because meditation is a very internal practice (not something that can be seen like a yoga pose), and because there are lot of myths around what actually happens in meditation, many people are quick to believe they are failing when they practice meditation.

Traditional yogic meditation practices were often designed for 'renounciates' (think monks in monasteries and yogis in Himalayan caves!). Such people have have renounced their everyday worldly lives of work, play and family, and have devoted their lives to perfecting specific meditation techniques. These techniques often don't translate easily to our modern interactive lives, and as such meditation can sometimes feel unattainable.

Some of the myths of how to meditate that students often state are: "I find it hard to sit still", or "I can't stop my thoughts", or " I want to calm my busy mind". We are here to help you bust those myths so that your students are able to discover a rich and rewarding meditation practice, with a technique that is perfect for them. The truth is,   >span class="s1">Rather than one single technique that is imposed by a teacher or tradition, often designed for someone with a completely different life, such as a male monk.  You will learn the language and skills required to encourage your students how to find their own special 'doorway' into meditation.

In this course you will learn skills drawn from the wisdom of Tantric Hatha Yoga, to guide your student’s awareness through the 'koshas', or the layers of one's being from gross to subtle.   You will learn the language required to encourage your students how to find their own special 'doorway' into meditation. You'll discover how to guide people's attention through a yoga class, allowing students to become awakened to the full potential of yoga. Helping to guide your students in a natural, life-affirming approach to meditation is a wonderful gift, whether you aim to teach meditation as part of an asana class, or in dedicated meditation sessions.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

  • Learn the language and presence to guide meditation instinctively and effortlessly.
  • Explore timeless meditation practices from the yoga tradition.
  • Learn the science behind how and why certain meditation practices work for everyday people like yourself, and some work better for monks.
  • Discover the skill to awaken natural instincts as doorways to effortless meditation.
  • Explore the physical body as an expression and tool of connection to essence, through the practice of mudra. Realise the potential of mudra to enhance your own teaching and communication skills.
  • Deepen your experience of the flow of prana through classical and evolutionary breath practices and kriyas, and the skills to teach them to your students.
  • Discover mantra as a tool of thought to bring harmony and focus to the mind.
  • Unlock your ability to use language as a guide to a healthy flow of emotion.
  • Become sensitive to the teaching power of shunya (silence or space).
  • Learn the secrets to create the space for a truly relaxing and restorative savasana.

"The Meditation Teacher Training with Rod opened my mind to different ways that meditation can be taught and practiced. Rod made it so engaging and informative but at the same time super practical and relatable. I'm really enjoying sharing some of this knowledge with my students!  Thank you!" ~ Cara, Yoga Teacher

"I really enjoyed the Meditation Teacher Training. Rod made us feel comfortable in our space, and because he taught from his heart the course was so heart warming.   I loved how the meditation course had freedom within the structure and how we all got to inspire each other and be ourselves. Rod shared his wisdom and knowledge to us and taught us to trust our intuition too. That made us all have that freedom within the meditation structure and be ourselves which gave us a chance to accept who we are and explore our unique self." ~ Jenni, Yoga Teacher

"Sending my gratitude to Rod for the Online Meditation Teacher Training experience. I have come out of this training feeling so much more confident with my authentic voice and teaching style.  With the abundance of wisdom shared in this 50 hour training, I feel I have a solid foundation to build my unique expression upon, holding space for students in an inclusive and empathetic manner.  The teachings have instantly translated into having a deeper relationship with my own meditation practice, and this carries through in my guiding approach with students.

I highly recommend Rod's training to anyone who wants to deepen their own understanding of meditation, and thread ancient teachings of mindfulness to students in a way that listens to our modern lifestyle.  I'm so glad Bess (@the_bess_life) recommended me to take your meditation training when I told her of my interest in becoming a teacher!"  ~ Vivyan, Student

Lunar Arts (Tantric Yin) Teacher Training - 50 hours

DISCOVER YOUR LUNAR 'BHAVANA'

In the Tantric Hatha Yoga system, we consciously cultivate two aspects: the solar side - dynamic, activating, heating, and invigorating; and the lunar side - restorative, regenerative, cooling, and healing.

Much of modern yoga reflects the solar aspect of being which in a way, is evident in the life of moderns humans, with so much focus on 'doing' and so little focus on 'being'.  Cultivating lunar 'bhavana', or 'feeling state' allows a subtle shift towards being more inwardly attentive, and the practices move towards being more nourishing and healing for the body and mind.

If you enjoy a 'Yin-style' practice, you'll appreciate the subtlety of the Lunar Arts of yoga. However, where a typical Yin yoga class may be very still and static, a Lunar Flow will explore rhythmic, pulsation-type movements that regenerate the tissues of your body, revive the flow of prana through the energy pathways, and elicit states of deep peace and inner harmony.

These Lunar practices are adaptable, and can be suitable for anyone needing to follow or more nourishing rhythm in their yoga practice and life, anyone healing from chronic stress-related illness, pregnant goddesses looking to nurture themselves through the trimesters of their pregnancy.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

  • Discover the sacred alchemy of Lunar yoga class experience from gross to subtle, using the model of the Koshas.
  • Help your students to explore the layers of their being - physical body, energy body, mind, emotions, intuition and bliss.
  • Learn the language and presence to guide meditative Lunar Flow practices instinctively and effortlessly.
  • Explore the physical body as an expression and tool of connection to essence, through flowing, Lunar-style namaskars that cultivate peace and restfulness.
  • Understand the dynamics of long-hold 'mudrasanas', and their affects on the physical body (fascia) and energy body (nadis).
  • Deepen your experience of the flow of prana through classical and evolutionary breath practices and kriyas, and the skills to teach them to your students.
  • Explore cooling and balancing Lunar pranayama practices.
  • Learn traditional Sanskrit mantras that cultivate harmonious inner rhythms.
  • Explore timeless meditation practices from the Tantric yoga tradition.
  • Discover the skill to effortlessly guide Lunar relaxation practices and Yoga Nidra.
  • Become sensitive to the teaching power of shunya (silence or space).
