Nourish @ InYoga: Ayurvedic Cooking Workshop for Spring/Summer
Join Nicole for a deliciously interactive workshop that blends the wisdom of Ayurveda and the nourishment of wholefoods, culminating in a mouth-watering lunch that you will participate in both preparing and eating!
Learn about the Ayurvedic Doshas (individual body types) and how they may be impacted, as well as be balanced by, the food you eat.
Take home some easy wisdom that you can apply with the Ayurvedic herbs and spices that may already be in your pantry, and learn some simple ways to:
- improve your digestion
- eat a diet that is more balanced
- cook a nourishing meal for you and your family
- substitute healthier meal options into your life
The workshop will begin with a meditation to usher in a sense of calm and steadiness, so you’re in the optimal state to digest a delicious lunch.
From there we’ll do a “Dosha Discovery”, where you’ll learn about the Ayurvedic body type, or dosha that most relates to you. We’ll prepare a nourishing, seasonal vegetarian lunch that will apply simple Ayurvedic principles for good digestion, wellbeing and balance of the three doshas: Vata, Pitta and Kapha.
As we transition from Spring to Summer, the Pitta dosha predominates, bringing with it qualities of heat, dryness and intensity. Summertime is bursting with vibrant energy, and while we often welcome this change after leaving winter hibernation, it can be easy to have too much of a good thing! Balancing excess Pitta means finding ways to stay cool and hydrated, and adopting lifestyle choices that help mellow any intensity we may be experiencing.
We’ll enjoy a meal that is fresh, light and cooling, with special emphasis on nourishing the digestive fire, which according to Ayurveda, is the seat of good health.
You’ll take home some mouth-watering recipes to add to your home-cooking repertoire, a daily Ayurvedic routine for the Summer season and some inspiration on how to live more in harmony with your body and our planet.
