We invite you to join us for a unique experience, a deep dive into the heart of teaching yoga with leading Sydney yoga teacher trainers Nicole Walsh & Rod Galbraith. This 2-night Yoga Teacher Mentoring Retreat will help you delve into authentic teaching, and nourish all levels of your being.
Retreat with us in our gorgeous Killcare beach house (1.5 hours drive north of Sydney) with sweeping ocean views, surrounded by national parks and an abundance of nature. Be nourished by daily yoga, meditation, group mentoring sessions, bush walks, beach walks/swims and healthy organic vegetarian meals prepared with love.

What is mentoring for yoga teachers?
Mentoring is an important part of the professional development of a yoga teacher, and offers invaluable support, deep listening, meaningful conversations and experienced guidance in helping you reach your full potential as a teacher. Mentoring will nourish your deepest path in teaching yoga and in life, and help steer you in a direction to discover your highest possibilities.
Why have a mentor?
As we move through life, we may have several mentors - our parents are our very first mentors and shape who we are from the moment we’re born. From a young age, our teachers are pivotal in helping us navigate the different stages of our life’s journey.
As a yoga teacher, you may go through periods of growth or challenge where you feel you need more support, to bounce ideas off someone who’s been walking the path for a while, to reinvigorate your learning in selected areas of teaching yoga and personal growth.
Mentoring is extremely important in the first few years of teaching, while you’re growing your skills and gaining confidence - the learning curve during this time is steep, so having guidance and support to navigate these stages with love and acceptance is often the difference between feeling like you’re flailing or flying.
Mentoring is also valuable at different stages of growth through yoga teacher’s journey - checking back in with yourself under the guidance of an experienced teacher will help you do the deep work that’s necessary to continue holding space for your students, maintain your own self-care as part of a yogic lifestyle, further enhance your practical skills and abilities in different areas of teaching, fill in any gaps in your teaching, and develop the business side of teaching yoga.
What does the mentoring process involve?
Our mentoring retreats are an opportunity to step outside of your daily routine and into a supportive network of like-minded teachers who are sincere about digging in deep and cultivating self-enquiry, sharing, learning, and choosing to grown into authentic teaching.
Daily yoga and meditation practice - It’s not unusual that teachers to find it challenging to maintain their own personal practice while keeping a busy teaching schedule. It is vital that teachers honour their self-practice as a time to recharge, nourish their own growth, and develop the clarity to offer yoga from their personal experience with integrity. This retreat is a gift to yourself that will fill your cup and revitalise your mind, body and soul, contributing to your essential self-care process.
Open discussions and self-inquiry - Covering a range of themes, our open discussion sessions aim to encourage and support shared learning and inspiration in the profound and soulful journey of teaching yoga. As a group we’ll hold space for one another, and share stories and practices to live more from the heart, to renew your deepest purpose for teaching yoga. We’ll offer embodied and integrated yogic wisdom as a foundation for inspired and authentic teaching.
Teaching skills lab - Taking your teaching out into the world opens up a landscape of challenges, practicalities and opportunities. Our teaching labs help you refine your skills, cultivate new skills, and help you find your authentic voice and teaching style to share your love of yoga confidently with your students. We look at aspects of “the practice of teaching” including voice work, language, verbal alignment cues, sequencing, theming, hands-on assisting, managing “multi-level” classes, and other teaching enhancements.
Nurture time - We all have different requirements when it comes to nurturing our mind, body and soul. We’ll deepen our connection to nature by exploring local bush tracks, beach walks, beach swims (weather dependant), and living in nature’s daily rhythms rising with the sun. There will be free time to wander, breath the fresh ocean air, gaze out to the horizon, curl up with a book from our extensive yoga library, or have heartfelt chats with fellow yoga teachers.
Nourishment - More than just nutrition, true nourishment comes from sharing meals with a sense of gratitude and connection to the abundance provided by the earth. Daily whole food breakfasts, lunches and dinners will be prepared from fresh, primarily organic produce, and are vegetarian and gluten-free. Dietary requirements can be catered for if we’re notified in advance.
Location of the retreat is Killcare, only 90 minutes drive away from the city, or take a train to Woy Woy station on the Central Coast, and we'll collect you from there.
You'll be guests in our relaxed beach home, which we've lovingly set up for our guests to enjoy both simplicity and comfort, allowing you to relax fully and get the most out of your time with us. You have the choice between two styles of twin-share room - our standard bedrooms, or cute and cosy sleeping alcoves that are smaller in size but high on comfort. All bedrooms feature crisp linen, with cosy doonas and throws, and our standard rooms have both ceiling fans and reverse cycle air conditioning. All rooms have shared bathrooms. The house has plenty of space for you to unwind, while enjoying the scenic views of bush and beach, healthy meals and great company.
Our yoga room is fully equipped with mats, blocks, straps, bolsters, meditation cushions and blankets.
